We are seeking an Associate Attorney licensed in Virginia to join a growing Community Associations practice group. This role focuses primarily on collections matters and supporting community association and HOA clients. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical, research, and communication skills, along with the ability to manage a high-volume caseload efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Independently manage a caseload of approximately 250-400 active collection cases from initial intake through case closure

• Collaborate with paralegals, administrative staff, and senior attorneys on collections matters

• Review and interpret client documentation and draft legal opinions for senior attorney review

• Appear regularly in court proceedings across multiple jurisdictions

• Handle abatement court cases for enforcement of community covenants

• Communicate routinely with community association clients and their management agents, providing regular case updates

• Manage billing of hourly time and task codes for fixed-fee collections matters

• Attend on-site meetings with community association boards to assist with elections and board meetings

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

• Active license to practice law in Virginia

• 2-4 years of experience in collections or related legal practice

• Knowledge of collections law, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) compliance, district court procedures, and post-judgment enforcement

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities

• Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines simultaneously

• Experience with legal project management is a plus

• Prior experience supervising or coordinating with paralegals or support staff is preferred
