Job Title: Drone Operator – Support Engineer II Location: Phoenix, AZ Duration: 6 Months (Extension possible, conversion possible) Pay Rate: $42/hr. Schedule: 40 hr/week – variable shifts. Start times may be as early as 3 AM, end times as late as midnight. Weekend work and travel may be required. Position Overview We are seeking a skilled Part 107 certified Drone Operator with strong Remote‑Control piloting experience to support our Research and Development team. In this role, you will act as an operations specialist, assisting in the development and testing of cutting‑edge safety‑related technologies. You will be responsible for mission planning, drone operation, light maintenance, and operational readiness activities. The role also requires cross‑team collaboration, supporting delivery site operations and pre‑launch tasks. This position is ideal for a candidate who thrives in dynamic environments, demonstrates strong attention to detail, and maintains a safety‑first mindset while working with emerging technologies. Support mission planning, pre‑launch activities, and lightweight drone maintenance. Conduct logistics planning and assist with operational readiness tasks. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on pre‑launch and site operations. Lead small teams during field assignments, ensuring safety and efficiency. Travel extensively (up to 75%) to off‑site work locations; drive to daily assignments (vehicle provided). Work in diverse weather conditions (heat, rain, wind, snow) within safety thresholds. Maintain accurate documentation and reporting of operations. Support flexible schedules, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and occasional overtime. Required Qualifications FAA 14 CFR Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate 2+ years of Remote‑Control drone pilot experience with strong coordination and execution skills. Experience leading small teams in operational environments. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand/walk for 8–10 hours (with breaks), and perform physical activities such as pushing, pulling, bending, and squatting. Valid Driver’s License; must meet Amazon driver eligibility criteria. Ability to work variable shifts, weekends, and extensive travel (up to 75%). Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (preferred, not required). Experience in the commercial UAS industry. Aviation safety experience (e.g., Safety Officer or similar role).
