Position Summary

The Supported Education & Employment Specialist (SEES) is a youth-centered professional who empowers young people ages 12–25 to explore career pathways, achieve educational goals, and access meaningful employment opportunities.

Working within GSUL's allcove integrated care model, this role bridges mental health, education, and workforce development by providing individualized career coaching, facilitating job readiness training, and connecting youth to employment and academic resources.

This position is ideal for someone passionate about career development, case management, workforce programs, and youth empowerment, with the ability to guide individuals toward sustainable success.

Core ResponsibilitiesYouth Engagement & Career Coaching
  • Build trusting relationships with youth using strengths-based, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive practices.
  • Provide individualized career coaching and case management to support goal setting, confidence building, and career exploration.
  • When applicable, communicate with youth and families in their preferred language to improve engagement and access to services.
Education Navigation & Academic Support
  • Support youth in navigating educational pathways, including high school completion, GED programs, college enrollment, apprenticeship opportunities, and vocational training.
  • Connect participants with academic resources and support services.
Workforce Development & Job Readiness
  • Deliver engaging job readiness workshops covering resume development, interviewing, workplace professionalism, financial literacy, and career planning.
  • Connect youth to employment opportunities through GSUL workforce programs, CalJOBS, apprenticeships, internships, and employer partners.
Integrated Care Team Collaboration
  • Collaborate with clinicians, peer support specialists, and multidisciplinary staff to ensure coordinated, holistic support.
  • Participate in case consultations and integrated care planning.
Community Partnerships & Employer Engagement
  • Develop relationships with schools, employers, colleges, training providers, and community organizations to expand opportunities for youth.
  • Represent GSUL at outreach events, career fairs, and community meetings.
Documentation, Outreach & Program Support
  • Maintain timely documentation, case notes, and outcome tracking.
  • Support reporting requirements and continuous quality improvement.
  • Assist with outreach activities designed to engage underserved youth and families.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, psychology, social work, workforce development, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Minimum two years of experience in youth development, workforce development, career coaching, employment services, education, or case management.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with youth from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Valid California driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of automobile insurance.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications

Highly qualified candidates will possess one or more of the following:

  • Professional fluency in Spanish, Pashto, or Dari strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with immigrant, refugee, newcomer, or multilingual communities.
  • Experience with workforce development, career counseling, job placement, or employment services.
  • Working knowledge of CalJOBS, WIOA, apprenticeship programs, or other workforce systems.
  • Experience facilitating workshops or classroom instruction.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed, healing-centered, or culturally responsive practices.
Language Skills Preferred

Multilingual Pay Incentive

GSUL recognizes the value of multilingual professionals.

Employees who demonstrate professional proficiency in Spanish, Pashto, Dari, or another language that supports community service delivery may be eligible to receive a 5% bilingual pay differential , subject to successful language proficiency verification and organizational need.

Compensation & Benefits

Starting Pay: $28.00 per hour
