Job Description

Position Summary Under the direct supervision of the Director of Maintenance, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring that school buildings and grounds are maintained in a clean, safe, orderly, and functional condition. This position performs a variety of maintenance tasks and supports the efficient operation of district facilities. Work Schedule Monday - Friday; 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.; Subject to emergency call as needed Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance to ensure school buildings and grounds remain clean, orderly, and safe. Conduct minor repairs and maintenance, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems. Inspect facilities and equipment regularly and report or recommend repairs and replacements to the supervisor. Regulate building systems to maintain appropriate seasonal temperatures and optimize energy usage. Secure building entrances and exits, ensuring all doors and windows are properly locked before departure. Maintain and service mechanical equipment and ensure preventative maintenance schedules are followed. Procure and manage tools, equipment, and materials necessary for maintenance tasks. Track inventory and place orders for supplies and materials as needed. Document work performed and maintain accurate records. Perform snow and ice removal and other seasonal maintenance tasks. Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, and functional environment for students, staff, and visitors. Maintain open and professional communication with administrators, staff, and families. Perform other related duties as assigned by the school Principal. Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Knowledge of Maintenance and repair techniques related to carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems. Building codes, safety regulations, and occupational health standards. Occupational safety and health laws and regulations. Basic facility maintenance practices and preventative maintenance procedures. Skills in Troubleshooting, problem-solving, and repair of building systems and equipment. Basic mathematical calculations. Effective verbal and written communication. Use of tools, equipment, and materials related to maintenance tasks. Ability to Interpret and follow oral, written, and diagrammatic instructions. Work independently and collaboratively with school staff and students. Maintain accurate records and documentation. Travel between school sites and district facilities as needed. Perform physically demanding tasks in a safe and efficient manner. Working Conditions Work is performed in indoor and outdoor environments across school facilities. Must be comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces. Exposure to varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow. Periodic strenuous physical activity required. Standard risks associated with the use of power tools and maintenance equipment. Ability to operate a district vehicle and riding lawn mower. Requires regular attendance and punctuality. Qualifications & Skills High school diploma or equivalent, required. Previous experience in facility maintenance and repair preferred. Any combination of education and experience providing the required skills and knowledge for successful performance may be considered. License/certifications in skilled trades, preferred. Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation, required. Successful completion of required background check and employment screenings. #J-18808-Ljbffr
