At Allen Bontrager Carpentry, we specialize in  metal roofing systems - metal shingles, standing seam, ag panel, and custom flashing work. We install roofs built to last 50+ years. We're looking for people who want to be proud of the company they represent, and the products they install.

What you'll actually do

Every install is a chance to get better at the trade. You'll learn to read a roof - how water moves, where flashing needs to go, what separates a tight install from one that fails in ten years. Day to day that means measuring and cutting metal panels, setting them straight and secure, forming custom flashing details around chimneys, valleys, and edges, and finishing every job so it looks as good as it performs. The work is hands-on and physical, and the crew takes real pride in leaving a site cleaner and sharper than they found it.

• Trades workers from framing, siding, gutters, or general carpentry who want to specialize in something they can be known for
• People who take pride in precision - measuring twice, cutting once, and noticing when something's off before it becomes a problem
• Anyone who's willing to work hard and is ready to channel that work ethic into a specialized craft
• Self-motivated learners who can follow instruction and build on it over time
• Prior roofing experience (any type) is a plus - but attitude and work ethic matter more

What we require

• Reliable transportation to our shop in Bonduel - the crew departs together each morning in company vehicles
• Comfort working at heights - ladders, scaffolding, steep pitches
• Ability to lift 50–75 lbs and work outdoors in varied weather
• Valid driver's license

Not the right fit if...

• You prefer grinding through volume over doing the job right - metal roofing rewards patience and attention to detail in a way shingle work simply doesn't
• You want to clock in and clock out without caring about the outcome
• Heights or hands-on physical labor aren't your thing

Where this can go

Most people on our crew didn't start as metal roofers. The ones who put in the work and develop their craft have had real opportunities to grow into lead roles and run their own installs - and we expect that to continue. There's no mandatory track, but the path is there for anyone who wants it.

Compensation

Compensation starts based on your experience - new technicians begin at $50k and grow from there, while those with current field experience come in higher. Either way, there's a clear path to $115k as your skills develop. Quarterly performance bonuses on top of base pay. For those who grow into management, the earning opportunity goes well beyond the technician range.
