Salary Schedule: Placement on the adjunct faculty salary schedule is based upon education and credited experience. Pending any course assignment, initial placement can range as follows: Lab Course (Salary Schedule HB) - $89.20 up to $130.94 per hour. Lecture Course (Salary Schedule AJ) - $103.85 up to $151.07.

Duties and Responsibilities - Teach classes as assigned from the regular curriculum.
- Assist in curriculum assessment, revisions, and new course development.
- Consult with students during regularly scheduled office hours.
- Maintain expertise in current teaching methodologies and curricula.
- Perform other professional duties as required by contract and general institutional needs.
Employment Standards (acquired through education, training, and/or experience) Knowledge of: - And experience in the fields of health, wellness, and integrative/complementary and alternative medicine environments
Skills and Abilities: - Three years of working in an integrative health and wellness environment
- Two years of recent full-time or part-time equivalent experience teaching in wellness, complementary and alternative medicine (CAM)/holistic/integrative therapies, and/or sciences at the college level (lecture and lab-based courses)
- Communicate effectively, written and orally, with students and colleagues
- Commitment to remain current in health, wellness, well-being, and integrative/CAM/holistic therapies
- Experience designing health, wellness, well-being, and integrative/CAM/holistic therapy curriculum
- Experience and proficiency in the utilization of the laboratory and laboratory equipment and the associated instruction appropriate for various health, wellness, and well-being-related courses
- Develop instructional learning outcomes and to develop methods for assessing students' achievement of these outcomes, as well as to ensure consistent and appropriate monitoring of student progress and use the assessment of one's pedagogy and examine its effect critically
- Commitment to creative use of technology in teaching and learning, in environments such as computer-assisted or smart classrooms, class websites, or online platforms
- Engage students from a broad spectrum of academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, neurodivergent, and LGBTQIA+ backgrounds in the classroom and in consultation, in person or through the use of technology
- Enthusiasm for, understanding of, and commitment to the role and purpose of the community college
- A commitment to the teaching profession, its goals and ideals, and enthusiasm for the mission of the College
- Use teaching methods that engage students actively in their learning, promote the development of critical thinking skills, and encourage them to become lifelong learners

Requirements: - Any bachelor's degree or higher and two years of professional experience OR any associate degree and six years of professional experience OR the equivalent (see below). Professional experience is required when the applicant possesses a master's degree. The professional experience required must be directly related to the faculty member's teaching assignment.
- Two years of recent full-time or part-time equivalent experience teaching at the community college and/or college-level
- Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, neurodivergent, and LGBTQIA+ backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff
Preferred - Professional and/or educational experience in a variety of health and wellness-related professions.
- Professional experience in delivering integrative health modalities including naturopathic medicine, acupuncture, or osteopathic medicine.
- Professional experience working as part of a multidisciplinary health team.
- Recent community college or lower division teaching experience.
- Recent experience working with racially minoritized and other disproportionately impacted students in the classroom, and an understanding of how historical patterns of exclusion of these groups within higher education and particular fields shape patterns of participation and outcomes.
- Willingness to examine and remediate one's instructional, relational, and classroom practices to more effectively engage and support racially minoritized and other disproportionately impacted students.
- Experience and skill with addressing inequity in the classroom and on campus.
- Experience and expertise in culturally-responsive teaching.
- Demonstrated ability to address equity gaps within wellness courses and classrooms.

a) Degree Equivalence The employee or applicant possesses a degree(s) with similar content to those listed for the relevant discipline. The name of the degree is close to that specified on the Disciplines List but the degree either has a different title or area of expertise or the coursework is slightly different. Equivalence is established through analysis of transcripts and coursework.
b) Academic Background Equivalence Related to disciplines in which a Master's degree is not generally expected or available. The employee or applicant must have completed at least 24 semester units (or equivalent) of coursework in the academic field being applied for, and must possess at least the equivalent level of achievement and the equivalent in breadth, depth of understanding, and rigor in each of the following:
i. a broad cultural education usually met by the general education requirements for any Bachelor's or Associate's degree, and
ii. a detailed study of the discipline in breadth, depth, and rigor, usually met by coursework required for the degree major.
c) Professional Achievement Equivalence The employee or applicant must have completed the general education requirements for any Bachelor's or Associate's degree, and show evidence of outstanding professional achievement and/or substantial training in the requested field. The employee or applicant must submit substantial evidence, which demonstrates that their preparation, teaching experience, work experience, and ability are equivalent to those expected from a person who meets the minimum qualifications.

Annual Security Report San Mateo County Community College District's (SMCCCD) 2024 Annual Security Report (ASR), required by the Clery Act, includes statistics for the previous three years (2021-2023) concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings owned or controlled by SMCCCD; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from SMCCCD. The 2024 Annual Security Report also outlines various campus safety and security policies concerning crime reporting, prevention and response to sexual and gender violence, alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, emergency response and evacuation procedures, and other matters. The Annual Security Report also includes important tips to help every community member remain safe and avoid becoming a victim of crime. The 2024 Annual Security Report is now available on the Public Safety website. The report includes information about criminal activity on our campuses, emergency procedures, and resources.
Application Instructions: Conditions of Employment Before employment, the selected candidate will be required to complete the following:
- Submit official transcripts (applies to all faculty or educational administrative positions). Foreign Education completed outside of the United States must be deemed equivalent to that gained in conventional/accredited U.S. education programs in order for it to be considered for the satisfaction of minimum qualifications. Foreign transcripts must be translated and evaluated by a U.S.-based credentials evaluation service. The District currently accepts evaluations from agencies approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

However, consideration may be given to those whose drug convictions occurred more than five years ago. A conviction for other crimes may not necessarily disqualify you from the job for which you may be applying.

Candidates for interview will be selected from among those who most closely meet the requirements and knowledge, skills and abilities. Meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee an interview. As part of the interview process, candidates may be asked to demonstrate job-related knowledge and skills.
This position is a "pool" position, meaning that openings may or may not be currently available. The District maintains a "pool" of applications for positions that are needed on an ongoing basis at Caada College, College of San Mateo, and Skyline College. The advantage of "pool" positions is that when a position becomes available, the Dean may immediately begin screening applications from the available pool of applicants without having to post a position and wait while the position is being advertised.
