Job Description

We have been retained by a private equity-backed, market-leading commercial services organization to identify a high-impact VP of Finance & Accounting to help lead the company through its next phase of accelerated growth and operational scale.

This profitable business has grown to more than $50M in revenue while maintaining an entrepreneurial and lean operating structure. With strong EBITDA performance, committed investment support, and an active growth strategy, the company is positioned to significantly expand through both organic growth and strategic acquisitions over the next several years.

To support this trajectory, the organization is investing in strengthening and scaling its finance and accounting infrastructure to support increasing operational complexity, acquisition activity, and geographic expansion. A key priority for this role will be building a more centralized, disciplined accounting and finance function while enhancing financial planning, operational reporting, and executive decision support capabilities across the enterprise.

The VP of Finance & Accounting will report directly to the CEO and serve as the senior accounting and finance leader for the organization. This individual will oversee the existing accounting team while driving improvements across financial operations, controllership, forecasting, systems, reporting, and process standardization.

This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on accounting and finance leader who brings a strong controllership foundation, experience operating in high-growth or private equity-backed environments, and the ability to build scalable financial infrastructure within a multi-location business.

The selected candidate will receive a strong compensation package, comprehensive benefits, and participation in long-term enterprise value creation.

NOTE: This position is based in Minneapolis, and the selected candidate will be required to work on-site at the company’s corporate headquarters.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic financial partner to the CEO and ownership group.
  • Lead and develop the company’s accounting and finance organization, including oversight of day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting.
  • Build and standardize scalable accounting processes, controls, and monthly close procedures across a growing multi-location platform.
  • Strengthen financial reporting accuracy, internal controls, compliance, and audit readiness.
  • Drive development of a more centralized accounting structure and establish best practices across entities and operating locations.
  • Enhance budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes to support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Develop KPI dashboards, operational reporting, and performance analytics to improve visibility and accountability across the business.
  • Improve cash flow management, working capital efficiency, and overall financial discipline.
  • Support acquisition evaluation, financial diligence, integration planning, and post-acquisition financial consolidation activities.
  • Lead ERP optimization efforts and support future systems implementations to improve scalability, reporting capabilities, and data integrity.
  • Prepare board-level reporting materials and participate in investor communications.
  • Partner closely with operational leadership to improve financial visibility, reporting consistency, and business performance across the organization.
  • Help build the financial infrastructure required to support continued growth, operational scale, and enterprise value creation.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 10 to 15+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience.
  • Strong foundation in core accounting and controllership, including oversight of close, reporting, controls, compliance, and process standardization.
  • Experience leading accounting and finance functions within private equity-backed, high-growth, or multi-location service organizations strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success building or improving scalable accounting and financial infrastructure in growing businesses.
  • Experience building or managing centralized accounting teams preferred.
  • Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical capabilities.
  • Experience supporting acquisitions, integrations, and multi-entity financial operations preferred.
  • ERP implementation, optimization, or systems transformation experience strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on leadership style with the ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a lean, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong executive communication and business partnership capabilities.
  • CPA strongly preferred; MBA a plus.
