Job Title: Pharmacy Technician — Contract (Correctional Health Services) Location: Correctional Facility Duration: Contract Assignment Schedule: On-site | Shift varies Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician for a contract assignment within a correctional health services setting. The technician will assist pharmacists in preparing, packaging, and distributing medications while maintaining security, safety, and regulatory compliance required in a correctional environment. Key Responsibilities Medication Preparation & Distribution Prepare, label, and package medications under pharmacist supervision Fill unit-dose and blister packs for patient administration Maintain accurate medication inventory and controlled substance counts Restock automated dispensing systems and medication carts Process medication orders and renewals in the pharmacy system Assist with medication reconciliation and returns Compliance & Safety Follow facility security procedures at all times Adhere to facility standards and mandatory reporting policies Maintain chain-of-custody protocols for controlled medications Comply with infection control and safety procedures Participate in facility counts, audits, and inspections Documentation & Communication Enter prescription and medication data into EMR/pharmacy system Communicate medication availability and discrepancies to pharmacist and clinical staff Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with privacy regulations Required Qualifications Active New York State Pharmacy Technician registration (NYSED) Minimum 2 years of Pharmacy Technician experience Experience with medication packaging, labelling, and inventory Ability to work within a secure environment following institutional procedures Knowledge of controlled substance handling procedures Facility Clearance Requirements Completion of security clearance and facility orientation DOC fingerprinting clearance required PREA training (or willingness to complete before start) Must present two (2) valid government-issued photo IDs upon hire Preferred Qualifications Prior correctional healthcare or institutional pharmacy experience Unit-dose or long-term care pharmacy background EMR/EHR or pharmacy dispensing system experience Core Competencies Attention to detail and accuracy Professional accountability Ability to follow structured protocols Team collaboration Effective communication Pride Health offers eligible employees comprehensive healthcare coverage (medical, dental, and vision plans), supplemental coverage (accident insurance, critical illness insurance, and hospital indemnity), 401(k)-retirement savings, life & disability insurance, an employee assistance program, legal support, auto, and home insurance, and employee discounts.
